The Cruachan Walk will bring you along the slopes of Cruachan Hill with the coast in the south and the Comeragh Mountain in the north with amazing views of the County.

Cruachan Walk

Distance: 9.6km (6 miles)
Suitability: Suitable for all but young children
Terrain:  Rocky paths, forest roads and quiet country roads

Take the N25 from Dungarvan towards Waterford and turn left just after the 'end of speed limit' signposts. Continue straight at the first junction then turn right at the second one. Begin your walk at the next junction by following a boreen for about a half of a mile ad then enter a forest track to the right with a magnificent pine plantation. The track emerges out into the open and the track will veer left following the northern boundary of the plantation with a stone wall and a ruined house to the right. From here the track will turn right following the wall then left with the intersection of a new forest track which it follows to the right and continue over a wooden stile and climb sharply to the summit.

From here take in the amazing views of the coast, the Knockmealdown Mountains and the Comeragh Mountains on a clear day. The return journey descends by the path to the right of the mast where you will reach the forest track again. Turn left down a new path to climb towards the summit and the track will continue south onto an older road turning soon onto a grassy farm boreen lying between a fence and a stream. Cross over two gates until the track brings you downhill over open heather and turning left at the public road back to your starting point.
