The Knockmealdown Mountains walk brings you along a compact range bordering counties Waterford and Tipperary with amazing views and beautiful wildflowers.

The Knockmealdown Mountains

Distance: 10km (6.25 miles)
Suitability: Suitable for relatively fit walkers
Terrain:  Forestry track, public road and open Mountain area

Begin your walk from Glentanagree Bridge and set out uphill across heathery ground gradually bearing away from Glenandaree stream. After about two km of a steady climb the ground will begin to level off. Follow the boundary wall between Waterford and Tipperary north westwards towards Sugar Loaf. From here embrace the views from the coast to neighbouring Mountain gaps.

Rejoin the line of the boundary wall and begin ascending again to Sugar Loaf Hill. At the summit of Sugar Loaf the wall turns left and follows the wall steeply downhill to the road above the Vee. From here follow the track to the left towards Baylough. Follow the road southwards for about two km to reach your starting point again.
