The Lismore Heritage Centre has an award winning Audio Visual display of Lismore's history in which your host Brother Declan (alias Niall Toibin) takes you on an enthralling journey through time, starting with the arrival of St. Carthage in 636 AD and bringing you right up to the present. Stroll through the recently refurbished exhibition galleries and come face to face with the historic figures that have shaped Lismore town through the ages. Also here is the new exhibition space dedicated to the life and work of Robert Boyle 'The Father of Modern Chemistry' and author of 'Boyles Law'. The Lismore Heritage Centre also houses a Tourist Information point and Craft and Souvenir Shop. The Guided Tours of the Town, starting at the Heritage Centre, will bring visitors around the historical town of Lismore relating the of history of the town from 636 AD to the present day. Along the way you will see St. Carthage's Church, St. Carthage's Cathedral, Lismore Castle and the Old Courthouse Building. You will also learn the stories of many famous people who stayed in Lismore such as Fred Astaire and William Thackeray.
