Heritage Sites in Bunmahon

The Bunmahon Mines (1827)

The Bunmahon Mines accommodated up to 1,200 workers while in operation from 1827 until its closure in 1877. In 1977, there was a still remnant of the mine in the area, from engine houses to part of the mineral railway. The erection of plaques on important mining buildings and mining wagon has pride of place in the centre of Bunmahon village. There is also now a mining trail situated along the mine and visitors can take in not only the history of the area but also the stunning scenery along the 'Copper Coast'.
