Lismore and the Blackwater Valley

Lismore and the Blackwater Valley cycle with its sublime beauty, takes you along quite country roads to the foot of the Knockmealdown Mountains . You begin and end this route in beautiful Lismore; on leaving the town head south over Lismore Bridge where on your left Lismore Castle hangs overlooking the River Blackwater. Turn left on the bridge and travel on the R666 following the signposts for Ballyduff.

After travelling for about 1.6km turn right up past the Lismore Golf Club and continue on following the signs for Araglin. You cycle on for about 12.5km up many hills and winding roads until you turn left in Araglin. You will come to the t-junction with the R666 and turn left travelling on until you reach the fishing village of west, Ballyduff. From here turn right towards the N72 and cycle on for about 7kkm turning slightly left on the N72. From here you could turn right to travel to Tallow but to continue the route head straight on the N72 cycling for about 8km until you return to the historic town of Lismore.   

Route: Lismore - Araglin - Ballyduff - Tallow - Lismore
Distance: 45.2km (27 miles) 
Time to Allow: 3 - 4 hours
