With breathtaking views of the Comeragh Mountains, the wonderful village of Portlaw lies on the River Clodagh.

The Mayfield Mill, a cotton factory from the nineteenth century, was the transformation for this small village but Portlaw suffered when the Irish cotton industry was squeezed by protective tax barriers. Portlaw later became a centre for the tannery industry in Ireland.

Portlaw has plenty to offer visitors interested in history with plenty of historical Attractions dotted around the area.

Portlaw boasts a fine House and Garden that is a must for anybody visiting the area.
