The love of Irish song, music, dance and the Irish language is what sets the Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking) area of An Rinn (Ring) and An Sean Phobal (Old Parish) apart. An Rinn (Ring) is a world apart - in its welcoming people, its scenery, its seascape and above all its cultural vitality. It is the only Gaeltacht area in the southeast of Ireland.

View from Helvick This small coastal Gaeltacht area, which consists of two parishes, is situated approximately six miles south west of Dungarvan, overlooking Dungarvan Bay. There is a strong tradition of Irish song, music, dance and the Irish language in this area and a spontaneous desire to share this tradition with the visitor can erupt at any time in a friendly local hostelry.

For hikers or bikers, walkers or bird watchers, An Rinn (Ring) and An Sean Phobal (Old Parish) are hideaways of cliff top trails, unspoiled beaches, inland drumlins and leafy glens. Add to this a hospitable people and a vibrant and effervescent culture and you can experience everything that makes the Gaeltacht such a rich source of Irish cultural heritage. An Rinn is steeped in Irish music and song, and is acclaimed for its sean-nós singers, such as Nioclás Tóibín, Labhrás Dráipéar, Áine Ó Ceallaigh, Ann Mulqueen and Ciarán Ó Gealbháin. It is also home to some of the founding members of the internationally acclaimed Irish music group, Danú and world famous singer, writer and Irish folklorist Liam Clancy lived the latter years of his life in this scenic location.

There are many Attractions in the beautiful coastal area of An Rinn.

An Rinn holds different Festivals throughout the year such as Daonscoil na Mumhan, the Oyster festival or Sponsored Swim in aid of the local RNLI Lifeboat Service.

Exploring the beautiful scenery and Drives in the An Rinn area is a must for anyone visiting the area.

There are many beautiful Walks in An Rinn, which takes you along by the sea or past the old famine graveyard.

Whether you wish to visit the fabulously-located Joan Clancy Art Gallery or see the wonderful craftsmanship at Criostal na Rinne, the Arts and Crafts in An Rinn must be explored.

Ceol agus Craic...! There is Irish Music and Song aplenty in An Rinn, from sessions in the local pubs to concerts and workshops for the learner.

Don't leave An Rinn without sampling the Local Fish Produce fresh from the sea.

An Rinn has a number of successful Local Irish Businesses such as Nemeton Television Productions and Meitheal Trá na Rinne Teo.

Education : An Rinn has both primary and secondary schools, which teach through the medium of Irish.  It is also home of Cólaiste na Rinne (Ring College), an Irish language boarding school for those at primary level.  The Coláiste also runs summer courses in the Irish Language for second level students.

Community Development: There is a strong community spirit in the Gaeltacht area of County Waterford, with a number of local community groups working towards the betterment of their parish.
