Getting behind the Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford

Date: 30 Jun 2008

The commercial partners of the Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford were on hand recently in Dungarvan to show their collective support to this initiative which is being led by Waterford County Council, Waterford Sports Partnership, County Waterford Community Forum and eight local cycling clubs Sponsors

As with all events of this nature their very survival depends on a partnership approach and the Sean Kelly Tour Committee are in the lucky position of having very dedicated commercial partners in the shape of Failte Ireland, Treasury Holdings, Flahavans, Tipperary Natural Mineral Water and GlaxoSmithKline who all see the inherent value of such a large scale cycle-touring event for County Waterford and the entire region. Sean Kelly was also in Dungarvan to meet with the agencies involved in the Tour shortly before jetting off to France to commentate on the Tour De France.

The 2008 Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford takes place on Sunday 24th August across three different routes of 50k, 100k and 160k or the Kelly Cruise, Kelly Legacy and the Kelly Comeragh Challenge respectively. It is a leisure tour and is open to all comers over the age of 10 years, with the 50k Kelly Cruise being particularly suited to being a family fun day in the saddle! The tour will once again take in communities including Dungarvan, Mahon Bridge, Carrick-on-Suir, Clonmel, Ballymacarbry, Rathgormack, Kilrossanty, Kilbrien, Cappoquin and Lismore. Entries a flying in from all corners of the globe and organisers are encouraging every intending participant to enter today as the 8th August closing date for entries is fast approaching.
