Sean Kelly Tour The Final Countdown!!
Date: 24 Aug 2008
It’s almost that time of year when all the blood, sweat and tears will be made worthwhile and almost 2000 of you will take to the roads of County Waterford on Sunday next 24th August for the Sean Kelly Tour.
Before the fun begins the Sean Kelly Tour committee would just like to remind all riders of the following in order to ensure everyone’s enjoyment:
• All participants must wear a hard shell crash helmet.
• All participants are responsible for their own safety.
• All entrants participate at their own risk.
• All participants must obey the rules of the road at all times. Be aware of other road users. This event will be run on open roads.
• Participants must obey the instructions of the Gardaí, the Civil Defence and event marshals at all times.
• Due to the challenging nature of the event a good level of fitness is required particularly for the ‘Kelly Legacy’ (100k) and the ‘Kelly Comeragh Challenge’ (160k).
• All bicycles should be in a well maintained, road-worthy condition. Participants are advised to carry a pump, spare tubes etc.
• Refreshments will be provided en-route and at the finish area but participants are advised to carry their own food and drink.
• Participants must follow the road signage for their chosen event.
• Participants must wear their event numbers at all times. These will be issued at sign-on along with your souvenir T-Shirt & goody bag.
• Registration & Start for all routes will be at the Dungarvan Sports Centre.
• If you have collected for our chosen charity ‘blazzing saddles’ then bring your sponsorship card to registration where a representative of the NCBI will be present to accept donations to this great cause.

• There is a limited amount of car-parking in the vicinity of Dungarvan Sports Centre. We would ask all locally based cyclists and those staying in accommodation locally to please, please leave the car behind and do your bit for the environment (and our hardworking stewards!).
• If you are driving please obey the parking stewards, ensure to lock your car and do not leave valuables on display.
• Participants are asked not to litter and please keep County Waterford beautiful. At all of the food and water stops bins will be provided and cyclists will be asked to use these bins and to separate recyclables from other waste.
• Weather: The summer has not been too kind to us so far but we are all keeping the fingers crossed for Sunday. For an accurate weather forecast checkout the link on the home page. In the meantime come prepared for all weathers i.e. rain gear, warm clothes and sun screen!!!
Most importantly don’t forget to bring a sense of fun!
Months of preparation are now almost coming to an end. The route is in great condition and its been great to see the amount of work going into getting it right-hedges are cut, roads have been swept and every town, village and community that riders will pass through are waiting to welcome
‘The Sean Kelly Tour’ with open arms!
